Town Planning, Development
& Land Sales
All offices deal with planning but where necessary, are able to call on our specialist Town Planning department. The department deals with all aspects of town and country planning including commercial, residential, agricultural and ecclesiastical work, and compulsory purchase and compensation claims. The Practice also specialises in being able to provide planning advocacy services.
The department has three Chartered Town Planners, Robert Wickham MA (CANTAB) M Phil (TP) FRICS MRTPI, Jacquie Andrews BSc FRICS MRTPI and Jonathan Harbottle BSc MA(TP) MRICS MRTPI, who undertake work in all areas of the profession. Planning advice is provided to clients through all stages of the formal planning process, from inception of a proposal, preparation and negotiation of planning applications and through to appeal.
Appeals are handled by the department by means of either written representations, Informal Hearing or Public Inquiry depending on the nature of each case. Detailed planning appraisals and advice can be provided on schemes ranging from small-scale residential extension proposals through to major town centre developments.
Potential Development Land
Consent for a single plot or larger site can be obtained and appeals against refusal of planning permission are regularly dealt with as well as analysis of Structure and Local Plans, preparation of representations to Examinations in Public and Local Plan Inquiries.
Site Analysis - Assessment of overall potential of sites for development against the background of the Development Plan and national planning policies.
Housing Market studies - land supply inquiries.
Retail impact studies - in connection with major commercial development. We also deal with development sites.
